Chapter 3: Photo Browsing


3.1 All Photos View

The All Photos view is the default home page, displaying all indexed photos in a grid layout.

Grid Browsing

  • Photos are arranged in a thumbnail grid
  • Quality icons appear on thumbnails (yellow indicates low quality/blurry)
  • Photos with faces show face bounding boxes on thumbnails
  • Hover over a photo to preview more information

Pagination

  • Pagination controls are at the bottom of the page
  • A default number of photos is displayed per page
  • Click page numbers or use the previous/next buttons to navigate

Sorting Options

Sorting can be selected from the top toolbar of the view:

  • Sort by shooting time (ascending/descending)
  • Sort by file name
  • Sort by file size
  • Sort by date added

Filtering

Combined with the top search box, you can filter within All Photos:

  • Search by file name
  • Search by content/EXIF
  • Limit search scope by folder

3.2 Photo Preview

Entering Preview Mode

There are several ways to enter photo preview:

  • Double-click any photo
  • Right-click a photo and select "Preview"
  • Select a photo and press Enter

Preview Interface Controls

Navigation:

Zoom Controls:

Panning:

  • After zooming in, hold the left mouse button and drag to pan the photo
  • Smart boundary detection prevents the photo from moving out of the display area

Rotation:

  • Click the rotate button (90° clockwise rotation)
  • Supports continuous rotation

Long Image Optimization

The software automatically detects long images (images where height is much greater than width) and optimizes the display for easier viewing of panoramas, long screenshots, etc.

Loop Preview

When reaching the last photo, clicking next loops back to the first; when on the first photo, clicking previous jumps to the last.

EXIF Information

In preview mode, click the info icon to view the photo's EXIF metadata:

  • Shooting time
  • Camera model
  • Shutter speed, aperture, ISO
  • Focal length
  • GPS coordinates
  • Image resolution, file size

3.3 Right-Click Context Menu

Right-click a photo in the grid or preview to access the full context menu.

Album Management

Search Functions

Face Operations

Selected faces are highlighted with a red border. You can:

  • Click a face box to select a face
  • Right-click a face box to reassign or merge faces
  • After selecting a face, search for other photos of that person

File Operations

3.4 Selection Operations

Selection Methods

Cross-Page Selection

The software supports "cross-page selection" mode, allowing you to maintain selection state across different pages:

  1. Enable cross-page selection in the status bar (layers icon)
  2. Select photos on any page
  3. When switching pages, selected photos remain selected
  4. View the total count of cross-page selections in the status bar
  5. Perform batch operations on the selected photos

This feature is ideal for collecting photos across different views before processing them together.
